Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept insurance?
Hummingbird Therapy operates primarily as a self-pay practice. For clients who wish to use insurance benefits, I may also have availability through Grow Therapy, depending on your insurance plan and eligibility. If you're unsure which option may be the best fit, feel free to reach out, and I'd be happy to help point you in the right direction.
Do you offer superbills?
Yes. If you have out-of-network benefits, I am happy to provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Please note that reimbursement is not guaranteed and will depend on your specific insurance plan.
Do you offer reduced-fee sessions?
A limited number of reduced-fee openings may be available based on financial need. I also participate in Open Path Psychotherapy Collective, which provides access to affordable therapy for eligible clients. If cost is a concern, please feel free to reach out to discuss available options.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Payment is accepted via major credit and debit cards, as well as HSA and FSA funds. Fees are due at the time of service unless other arrangements have been made in advance.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please provide at least 24 hours' notice. Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours' notice, as well as missed appointments, may be subject to a cancellation fee. Full details will be reviewed during the intake process.
How does Walk and Talk therapy work in Lebanon?
These sessions take place at local parks or trails in Lebanon, TN and surrounding areas. We meet at a designated location and engage in therapy while walking side-by-side. For many people, being outdoors and in motion creates a more relaxed, grounded alternative to a traditional office setting.
Can I do telehealth if I live outside of Tennessee?
At this time, clients must be physically located in Tennessee at the time of each session due to licensing regulations. If you plan to travel outside the state, we can discuss how that may affect scheduling and continuity of care.
What should I expect during my first intake session?
The first session is a gentle discovery process. We will review your history, discuss your current challenges, and identify your goals for therapy. It's a space where you can share at your own pace, ensuring you feel safe and heard as we begin our partnership.
How can faith be integrated into our sessions?
Faith can be incorporated into therapy for clients who would like it to be part of the process. This may include exploring spiritual beliefs, discussing faith-related concerns, or integrating prayer and scripture when appropriate. Faith integration is always client-led and approached in a way that feels supportive, respectful, and aligned with your values.
Do I have to be Christian to work with you?
No. I work with adults from a variety of backgrounds and beliefs. While faith can be incorporated into therapy for those who want it, it is never required and is always guided by your preferences and goals for therapy.
What is the best way to get started?
The best place to start is by reaching out through the contact form. From there, we can briefly connect and determine next steps or schedule your first session.
